How We Made Magic at Hackaholics 2019
The 3-day hackathon, hosted at Codeville, our innovation lab, brought together some of the brightest and most innovative minds in the country.
The event, kicked off on 29 March 2019 featuring various activities including keynote addresses, panel discussions and training programs for the participants by Osmosis – our technical support partners.
Among a number of ground-breaking solutions from the 20 participating teams, Team EazyChange won the $10,000 prize by creating a simple payment platform for transportation.
The solution caters to the problem of scarcity of lower denominations for transport fare within Lagos and other states. Besides the prize money, the winning team will also join the bank for a period of 6 months.
Team 2i were the first runners-up for creating a backend solution designed to solve problems in Know Your Customer (KYC) while Team Lendse came third for a solution that tackles alternative credit scoring for financial institutions.
Besides the winning teams, participants who impressed with their ideas and work attitude will gain access to incubation and acceleration programs at Codeville.
Codeville is our innovation hub which is structured to nurture tech solutions and other business ideas into marketable brands.
The various participants will take advantage of investment opportunities, business support and mentorship programs available at the innovation lab.
Part of the magic at Hackaholics was the announcement of Ignite by Wema, a special business account for micro, small and medium enterprises.
The all-inclusive account will support MSMEs to upgrade their businesses through partnerships with the bank, leverage on the bank’s network and marketing channels, provide access to business advisory, incubation benefits and concessions on business loans of up to N3m.
With the success of Hackaholics, we can proudly say that we can’t stop and won’t stop building a track record for creating and promoting platforms that will pave the way towards building the future of Nigeria’s fintech and business sectors.
